What is Chuy’s Jalapeño Ranch?

Chuy’s Jalapeño Ranch is the cool, creamy, slightly spicy dip that keeps everyone reaching for “just one more chip.” It’s made by blending classic ranch dressing with pickled jalapeños, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime for a tangy kick. At Chuy’s, it’s served with baskets of warm tortilla chips, but it’s just as delicious drizzled over tacos, enchiladas, or even grilled chicken at home.

This copycat version is every bit as crave-worthy as the restaurant original. The best part? It comes together in just minutes in a blender or food processor.

Flavor Tips

  • Adjust the heat: Start with the jalapeños listed, then taste. Add more if you love extra spice or a splash of jalapeño juice for tang. I like about 1/4-1/3 of a cup. We’ve made it with 1/2 cup before, it’s just got a bit more kick!
  • Chill before serving: Letting it sit for at least 30 minutes helps the flavors meld together.
  • Consistency is flexible: Add a splash more buttermilk if you want a pourable dressing or keep it thicker for dipping.

Serving Suggestions

  • Dip for tortilla chips (just like Chuy’s! and my personal fave)
  • Drizzle over tacos, nachos, or enchiladas
  • Toss with shredded cabbage for a quick slaw to top grilled fish or chicken tacos
  • Serve with veggie trays: it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at parties
  • Spread on sandwiches or wraps in place of mayo for a creamy, flavorful kick

Store leftover jalapeño ranch in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days. Give it a quick stir or shake before using, as it may separate slightly.

(Tip: I don’t recommend freezing — the dairy base will separate and lose its creamy texture.)
