Puff Pastry Baked Boursin with Bacon Jam
Alright, friends—this is hands-down one of my new favorite party appetizers! I’m a big fan of baked brie, so I decided to put a twist on it by using Boursin cheese wrapped in puff pastry with bacon jam. Oh my word, you have to try this for any occasion—whether it’s girl’s night, game day, holiday parties, and more!
What you’ll LOVE about this appetizer:
PUFF PASTRY BAKED BOURSIN INGREDIENTS
Here are a few ingredient notes and swaps to make this puff pastry baked Boursin!
BOURSIN CHEESE: Boursin is a soft, crumbly French cheese with a texture similar to cream cheese. It comes in a variety of delicious flavors, like Garlic & Herb, all of which would be amazing wrapped in puff pastry. You really can’t go wrong! Look for Boursin rounds in the deli cheese section of your grocery store.
PUFF PASTRY: You’ll find puff pastry in the freezer aisle, typically near frozen desserts. Just remember to let it thaw while you prep this appetizer.
BACON JAM: Bacon jam can be found in most specialty markets and many regular grocery stores. Trader Joe’s has a great option! I used a Bourbon Bacon Jam, but any variety will work. You can also substitute caramelized onions, fig jam, raspberry jam, or any sweet and savory spread you love.
EGG WASH: The only other ingredient you’ll need is one egg to whisk and brush over the puff pastry. This helps give it that beautiful golden color as it bakes.
GARNISHING: To elevate the presentation, I recommend drizzling the baked Boursin with hot honey and adding a few fresh herbs like thyme!”
HOW TO MAKE PUFF PASTRY BAKED BOURSIN
The first step is rolling out the thawed puff pastry. Make sure it’s still chilled but not frozen. Unroll it on a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Unwrap your Boursin cheese round and set it in the middle of the puff pastry sheet.
Top the Boursin cheese with several scoopfuls of bacon jam.
Trim off any excess puff pastry and wrap it up tightly, pinching the seams at the top. You can leave it like this or flip it upside down – seam side down. It’s up to you. I flipped mine upside down.
Whisk one egg and brush it over the puff pastry. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes or until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown. Ovens vary so watch carefully.
Serve your puff pastry baked Boursin cheese with your favorite crackers, crostini, toast rounds, apple slices, etc.
