I just love this creamy, baked spinach dip! It’s always a hit at any party or game night. The cheesy and creamy spinach and the bubbly, golden bits on top? Perfection! This spinach dip such an easy, go-to appetizer that everyone always loves.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

CREAM CHEESE: I suggest the regular cream cheese here, rather than the low fat. This gives it that super creamy, rich texture. You can certainly sub in low fat if you prefer!

SOUR CREAM: Sub in Plain Greek Yogurt if you want to cut calories!

SPINACH: I have made this with both frozen and fresh spinach. As long as you make sure to get all the excess water out of the frozen spinach, it works like a dream. For these photos, I made it with fresh spinach. It feels a bit funny stirring it all together with fresh, chopped spinach leaves, but it bakes up beautifully!

SHREDDED CHEESE: You can sub in any variety of cheese you like! Just 2 cups of any shredded cheese. I love cheddar, but you can try parmesan, asiago, mozarella or a blend of all!

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (10 oz.) package frozen spinach (thawed, drained and chopped (or 16 oz fresh spinach, chopped))
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)


  • Preheat the oven to 350℉
  • Thaw and drain the frozen spinach, and wring out all the excess liquid. If using fresh spinach, simple chop spinach (it will wilt in the baking process).
  • In a medium mixing bowl, stir together cream cheese, sour cream, chopped spinach and shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined. If you want to reserve some cheese to sprinkle on top, do so at this step. I usually mix in 1 1/2 cups of cheese and reserve 1/2 cup to sprinkle on top before baking.
  • Transfer mixture into a small oven-safe baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly. If you want your cheese to be more browned, turn to broil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve warm with tortilla chips, veggie slices, baguette slices, crostini, etc.
