Ah, Lawson’s Chip Dip – the stuff of snack legends! It is SO good. This beloved chip dip originated from a convenience store chain (called “Lawson’s” of course) founded in Ohio back in 1939. Their delicious dip quickly became a household name across the Midwest. While the original Lawson’s stores are no longer, they eventually became Circle K stores – some of which are still around today!

While Lawson’s might be an old memory, this copycat recipe for their famous chip dip tastes JUST like the original recipe! So the next time you need a dip recipe for a backyard party, potluck, game night or just a snack craving, you must try this Lawson’s Chip Dip!

  • Sour Cream
  • Ranch Seasoning & Dressing Mix
  • Chive & Onion Cream Cheese
Ingredients in Lawson's Chip Dip

This dip truly couldn’t be any easier to make. First of all, it only has three ingredients. SUPER simple. I love to make this in the summer when we need a good beach or boat dip. You’ll just need chive and onion cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, and sour cream! That’s IT!

I like to sit out the cream cheese for about 20 minutes before mixing so it’s softened up a bit. Then use a hand-mixer or electric mixer or simply just a spoon to stir together all the ingredients until smooth and creamy!

If you have green onions or chives, I like to sprinkle some on top for garnish, but it’s not required!

Ways to Serve Lawson’s Chip Dip

  • As a CHIP dip, of course! I prefer ruffles chips.
  • As a topping on loaded baked potatoes
  • Serve with a platter of veggies like carrot sticks, celery sticks, bell pepper strips, etc.
  • Spread on sandwiches and wraps for an extra boost of flavor!
  • Add a dollop on tacos!
  • Thin out the dip with a bit of milk to make an easy salad dressing.

There are so many ways you enjoy this chip dip! My favorite is just served up with a bag of chips. This recipe just can’t be beat!
